The Chancellor of Uva Wellassa University, most venerable Bengamuwe Sri Dammadinna Nayake Thero paid a special visit to the University on October 20, 2014 on invitation of Vice Chancellor. Main objective of his visit was to initiate a fund for awarding scholarships for some selected students who continue their studies with financial difficulties. The Chancellor contributed by Rs. 1,000,000.00 to the fund at this Ceremony. Also, an allowance worth to Rs. 4, 50,000.00 for three hundred students was given away as supplementary money for the incoming month. Dr. A.M.A.N.B. Attanayake, Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology, welcomed the gathering and Dr. G. Chandrasena, Vice Chancellor, explained the purpose of initiating and awarding such a scholarship programme for the undergraduates. This event was attended by large number of guests and invitees together with Academic and Administrative staff of the university.
