<h2 style="text-align: center;">INVITATION FOR APPLICATIONS</h2>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">POST OF VICE-CHANCELLOR</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Council of the Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka invites applications for the post of Vice Chancellor in terms of section 34 of the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 and subsequent amendments and as per the terms and conditions in Commission Circular No. 03/2023.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Applicants should be citizens of Sri Lanka and shall be less than sixty three (63) years of age by the closing date of the applications. The Vice-Chancellor shall, unless he/she vacates office earlier or is removed from office in terms of the Universities Act, hold office for a term of three years or until he/she completes his/her sixty fifth year, whichever occurs earlier.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Under the provision of the Universities Act, the Vice-Chancellor is a full time Officer, and shall be the Principal Executive Officer, the Principal Academic Officer, and the Accounting Officer of the University. He/She shall also be an ex-officio member and the Chairman of both the Council and the Senate. The Vice-Chancellor is responsible for directing academic affairs, introducing management policies, implementing the decisions of the Council, and the administration of the University. He/She shall uphold the principles of academic excellence, transparency, accountability, democratic management, and effective impartial leadership.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Application Procedure</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The applicant shall be requested to submit, together with his/her application</p>
<ol type="i">
<li style="text-align: justify;">a statement of Vision for the development of the University,</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">a brief account of what he/she proposes to achieve if appointed to the post of Vice Chancellor</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">a full Curriculum Vitae including date of birth of the applicant.</li>
</ol>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In addition, a soft copy of the above documents together with any other supporting documents in PDF format should be submitted to the registrar@uwu.ac.lk e-mail address.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">When the incumbent Vice-Chancellor is an applicant or had held the post of Vice-Chancellor of the University before, he/she shall give a Report highlighting accomplishment during his/her first period of the office, in addition to the documents (i), (ii) and (iii) mentioned above.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In case of an applicant serving in Public Service, Corporations, Statutory Bodies or Higher Educational Institutions other than the Uva Wellassa University, he/she should submit a letter from the employer indicating whether he/she could be released in the event of his/her appointment to the post.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Selection Procedure</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">All eligible applicants will be summoned before a Special Council meeting for a brief presentation of a minimum of ten (10) minutes duration but not exceeding fifteen (15) minutes. Chair or any member of the Council has a right to question any Applicant to elicit further information as to matters mentioned in his/her Statement of Vision, Curriculum Vitae and presentation or the ascertain his/her suitability for the post of Vice-Chancellor.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In an exceptional situation, if any applicant is not in a position to appear before the Special Council meeting in person due to an illness or for being overseas, he/she shall be allowed to appear via virtual mode, with prior notice of the Registrar.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Applicants shall be evaluated based on the following criteria as mentioned in the University Grants Commission Circular No.03/2023.</p>

“Rural Modernization Without Urbanization in Sri Lanka: A Mixed-Method Development Economics Assessment of Sustainable Growth Pathways”</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Suitable qualified graduates who are willing to read for a Master of Philosophy Degree at Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka and willing to work as a Full Time Research Assistant for the above project are requested to apply for the above post. Selected candidate needs get registered as a full time MPhil. Student at Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka by submitting the relevant documents.</p>
<p class="section-title" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Candidate should possess a Bachelor Degree in Economics, Human Resource Development or related filed with a 1st or 2nd class upper division.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Working knowledge and Experience in the research and publication relevant to the project will be an added advantage.</li>
</ul>
<p class="section-title" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Selection Method:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Selection will be done based on the academic qualifications ad research experience. Short listed applicants will be called for an interview if required.</p>

<p class="section-title" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Monthly Stipend:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">All-inclusive Rs. 60,000.00 per month will be payed based on the payment regulations of the Uva Wellassa University.</p>

BBM, BBA, B.Sc. BA, Honours (Special) Degree with a First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in Human Resource Development</p>

<p>The Department of Information and Communication Technology, Faculty of Technological Studies, Uva Wellassa University, invites applications from qualified candidates for the positions of Temporary Lecturer in Computer Science.</p>
<h4>Qualifications</h4>
<p>Candidates should possess a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science or a Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (BICT) degree from a recognized university.</p>
<h4>Mode of Selection</h4>
<p>Selection will be based on the academic qualifications of the candidates and their performance at the walk-in interview.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify; line-height: 2;">The Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka is inviting applications from suitably qualified Sri Lankan citizens possessing the following qualifications for the post of <strong>Chief Marshal (Temporary Basis)</strong>. <p class="section-title" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 2;"><strong>Chief Marshal (Temporary Basis)</strong></p>
<p class="section-title" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 2;"><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify; line-height: 2;">A holder of the post of Deputy Chief Marshal in the Marshal Service in the university system and confirmed in that post with not less than five (05) years of satisfactory service in that grade.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify; line-height: 2;">Height &#8211; 5&#8242;.5&#8243;<br />
Chest &#8211; 32&#8243; deflated</p>
<p style="text-align: justify; line-height: 2;">Note: Preference will be given to those with actively participated in sports activities, social welfare activities and recreation programmes within the university and at national level.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify; line-height: 2;">. An Officer not below the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in Sri Lanka Armed Forces/equivalent rank in Sri Lanka Police with active participation in sports activities.</p>
<p class="section-title" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 2;"><strong>Method of Recruitment:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify; line-height: 2;">Selection by a structured interview. Applicants who have scored 40% marks or above at the structured interview are eligible to be considered for selection.</p>
<p class="section-title" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 2;"><strong>Salary:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify; line-height: 2;">An all-inclusive fixed monthly Salary of <strong>Rs.159,000.00</strong>, along with the cost of living allowance and other approved allowances. Statutory deductions and contributions are made to the Universities Provident Fund (UPF – 7% employee contribution and UPF – 8% employer contribution) and the Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF – 3% employer contribution).</p>

<h3 class="center" style="text-align: center;">Post of Research Assistant (M. Phil. Student)<br />
National Science Foundation Research Grant (RG/2025/EA&amp;ICT/01)</h3>
<p class="center" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Research Project:</strong> “Design and development of a first ever low-cost groundnut combine harvester for Sri Lankan variety and investigate the performance in the field”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Applications are called from suitable, qualified graduates who are willing to read and work as a Full-time Research Assistant for a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Degree for the above research project at the Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka.</p>
<p class="section-title" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li class="indent" style="text-align: justify;">B.Sc. Degree in Agriculture OR Technology obtained from a recognised university at the graduate level (Specialisation and Classes will be preferable for selection).</li>
<li class="indent" style="text-align: justify;">Subject knowledge, work Experience, and research experience relevant to the proposed project will be an added qualification.</li>
<li class="indent" style="text-align: justify;">Publication in <strong>Machine design</strong> and <strong>Finite element method (FEM) </strong>or <strong>Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling</strong> is compulsory</li>
<li class="indent" style="text-align: justify;">As a significant amount of field work and travelling is involved in the project, preference will be given to a male candidate.</li>
</ul>
<p class="section-title" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Method of Selection:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Shortlisted applicants would be called for an interview. Selection will be done based on the academic qualifications, subject knowledge, work experience, research, publications and performance in the interview.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The contract period for the above post is two years, and you need to get into an agreement with the principal investigator of the project for this period, and if you leave before the contract period, you need to pay back the total value of the stipend received by you from the Research grant.</p>
<p class="section-title" style="text-align: justify;">Benefits to the selected candidate</p>
<p class="indent" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>a) Monthly Stipend:</strong></p>
<p class="indent" style="text-align: justify;">A monthly stipend is available for two years. All-inclusive LKR 60,000/= per month will be paid based on the payment regulations of the National Science Foundations and Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka.</p>
<p class="indent" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>b) Registration fee for MPhil study:</strong></p>
<p class="indent" style="text-align: justify;">MPhil registration fee will be fully covered under this project.</p>
<p class="indent" style="text-align: justify;"><strong>c)Travelling Expenses:</strong></p>
<p class="indent" style="text-align: justify;">The travelling expenses pertaining to the research project will be covered under the research project grant.</p>
