UWU, Go Study Global Education, GVTC Collaboration Launching Ceremony

Bachelor of Science Honours in Tea Technology and Value Addition Degree Programme, hosted by the Department of Export Agriculture is a unique degree programme designed with the objective of producing well rounded graduates to uplift the country’s Tea sector to thrive in the competitive world market. Having identified the greater need to expose students to local as well as global tea industry, the Department of Export Agriculture joined hands with Go Study Global Education (GSGE), China and Guangxi Vocational and Technical College (GVTC) of China with the prospect of building a mutually beneficial relationship that yields opportunities for knowledge, experience & cultural sharing and research collaboration among the institutes. The launching ceremony was held virtually via Zoom platform on May 31, 2022. A Plaque of ‘Silk Road Tea Institute’ was unveiled by each party symbolizing the collaboration among the institutions followed by a tradition of Tea Toasting.

Prof. Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera, Vice Chancellor, Uva Wellassa University (UWU), Prof. Saman Herath, Dean, Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture, Registrar Mr. Hibathul Careem, Bursar Ms. Tharanga Perera of UWU, Heads of Animal Science and Export Agriculture Departments Dr. Deshani Mudannayake & Prof. Wasantha Senevirathna, Coordinator of the collaboration Dr. Ranjith Perera and the academic staff members of the Department of Export Agriculture participated for the launching ceremony representing UWU. GVTC was represented by Ms. Cheng Yunyan, The Vice President, Mr. Chen Enhai, Dean, School of Agricultural Engineering, Ms. Zhao Hongmei, Dean, College of International Education, Mr. Gao Chuanyou, Deputy Dean, School of Agricultural Engineering, Prof. (Mr.) Gu Nengping, Director, Tea Teaching and Research Center, Ms. Huang Biyan, Deputy Director, Tea Teaching and Research Center along with the academic staff members of the Tea Teaching and Research Center. Further, Ms. Qin Ziyan, Executive Director of International Affairs and Mr. Li Wey, Executive Director of Marketing graced the occasion representing Go Study Global Education. The event was compered by Ms. Stephani and Ms. Nirasha Fernando representing GSGE and UWU, respectively. It is greatly appreciated the live streaming of this online event by the Audio-Video team of UWU headed by Mr. Thisara Perera and the organizing committee of the Department of Export Agriculture for the immense support .
