University Grants commission with the assistance from Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka has developed a mobile application to be used in emergency situations which may arise due to the threat of ragging or other forms of violence both within and outside the university premises. It has been developed in such a way that it is conveniently applicable via most common mobile platforms and is easily accessible in any emergency situations. Prior to launching the proposed system in all universities, UGC has selected Uva Wellassa University to pilot the “Emergency Safety App”. Upon the agreement made between UGC and UWU, ICTA visited the Uva Wellassa University to have an awareness program on ‘Emergency Safety APP on February 17, 2018.
