From Crisis to Innovation: Marching Towards the Digital-Age Solutions
The Dairy Forum 2026, organized for the second consecutive year by the Department of Animal Science, Uva Wellassa University, will be held in 23rd July 2026 under the theme “From Crisis to Innovation: Marching Towards Digital-Age Solutions.” In line with the university’s vision to serve as the centre of excellence for value addition to the national resource base, the forum focuses on the transformative potential of digital technologies in Sri Lanka’s dairy sector. Despite their promise, digital interventions in areas such as herd management, processing, extension, marketing, and logistics remain limited. The forum will highlight innovations including precision dairy tools, IoT-based systems, data-driven decision support, smart processing, and digital traceability. Bringing together key stakeholders ranging from government and private sector actors to smallholder farmers the event aims to foster collaboration, bridge knowledge gaps, and promote inclusive, sustainable growth while accelerating the sector’s transition toward a digitally empowered future.
