Prof. Dr. Manfred Domrös of the Institute of Physical Geography, Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany paid a visit to Uva Wellassa University on October 19, 2014. Prof. Domrös was accompanied by 26 students of the Master’s Degree Program in Physical Geography. The team is at present undertaking a two-week long research on Geography and Climatology of Sri Lanka that also includes a study in the Badulla basin. This is the second time a research team from Gutenberg visited Uva Wellassa University. This visit has both academic and research significance and paves the way for a lasting future collaboration between the two Universities. The Visitors took part in an introductory lecture to the Uva Wellassa University and a lecture on the economy of Uva Province conducted by Dr. Kolitha Wijesekara, Head, Department of Science & Technology and Ms. Chamindika Weerakoon, Lecturer, Faculty of Management, respectively. Visiting team also met Dr. Gamani Chadrasena, Vice Chancellor of Uva Wellassa University and took part in a tour in the University before their departure.
