4. Program Overview:

Sri Lanka’s growing engagement in international trade highlights the need for professionals and entrepreneurs with a strong understanding of export and import procedures. Despite the focus on value addition and global market expansion, many small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and graduates face challenges navigating documentation, regulations, logistics, and customs related to international trade.

This workshop aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Participants will gain insights into export–import documentation, trade regulations, shipping procedures, and customs requirements. The program will also create awareness about global market opportunities, particularly for agricultural and value-added products. The initiative to conduct this workshop comes from requests made by farmers who participated in the UWU Farmers’ Forum 2025.

Objectives

• To provide participants with theoretical knowledge and understanding of export–import documentation, procedures, and trade regulations.
• To enhance the capacity of small and medium entrepreneurs and graduate and undergraduate students to identify export opportunities and engage effectively in international trade activities.

• No special requirements.
• Open to UWU students in 3rd and 4th year.
• Entrepreneurs and SMEs engaged or interested in international trade in Uva Province.
• University students
• Anyone who is seeking to enhance or update their knowledge in export-import procedures

9. Assessment Method:

• No formal evaluation will be conducted.
• Certificate of participation will be awarded to all participants.
• Participation is limited to 40 participants.

10. Program Fees:

• General participants: LKR 5,500 per participant
• UWU students: LKR 3,000 per participant (50% discount)
• (LKR 500 per participant (applies to all participants))
