A special meeting was held on September 01, 2020 to discuss about the contribution that Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture (FASEA), Uva Wellassa University can make for developing agriculture sector of Uva region. As collaborators, officials of Ministry of Agriculture (Uva) and related institutions visited the University. The discussion was held as an extension of the initial meeting which was held on August 25, 2020 under the theme of UWU – Public Sector Partnership for Economic Development and organised by the University Business Linkage (UBL) Cell.

Prof. H.M.S.K. Herath, Dean – Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture welcomed the participants and briefed about the objectives of the meeting. Representing the Ministry of Agriculture (Uva), Mr. T.B. Hathiyaldeniya attended and he presented details about the services that they expect from the University. Dr. S.K. Weerasundara, Director – Department of Animal Production and Health (Uva), Ms. Ayesha Gunawardena, Director – Department of Agriculture (Uva), Mr.K.M.W.R. Bandara, Assistant Director (Planning) and several other officers were present in this meeting. Senior academic staff members of the FASEA attended in the meeting and expressed their ideas about the possible contribution that they can make to meet needs of the agriculture sector of the province.

The discussion helped develop a clear understanding between the two parties and also to realize ground level issues of the sector. The Faculty got an opportunity to focus its contribution to the real needs of the province in terms of developing agriculture sector in Uva.
