All University students have access to medical care free of charge under the guidance of the University Medical Officer (UMO). The University Medical Center is further strengthened with a qualified nurse and a pharmacist. All medical reports of students should be certified by the UMO, before being submitted to the Faculty Board and Senate for approval.

Obtaining and Submitting Medical Certificates

  • If a student is unable to attend to his academic activities due to illness, he/she has to submit a medical certificate to the relevant faculty. (During exam time the medical to the department of examination )
  • It can be obtained from the UMO or outside doctor.
  • But, only doctors registered in SLMC and registered ayurvedic practitioners can issue a medical certificate.
  • The medical certificate  has to be obtained at the time of consultation, not later.

Following details have to be included in the medical certificate.(please refer to the image)

  1. Name of the student
  2. Diagnosis (Illness)
  3. No. of days recommended for leave
  4. Dates
  5. Name of the Doctor
  6. Qualification
  7. Registration number
  8. Signature of the doctor
  9. Date of issue
