AQUA 2015: Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum

  • Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture of UWU, as the first and only university which offers Aquatic Resources Technology degree in Sri Lanka, organized and successfully completed the “Aqua 2015: Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum” to discuss the matters which have timely importance in fisheries and aquaculture sector with the theme of "Blue revolution: challenging new frontiers through value addition" being adhered with university theme “value addition to national resources base”. The forum was held on 11th December 2015, at Block E of UWU with the prime objectives of identifying current issues, trends and scientific approaches being used to ameliorate in fisheries and aquaculture sector as well as contributing knowledge dissemination with the participation of eminent academia, researchers and entrepreneurs. Students of the AQT and ANS degree programmes were identified as target group of the forum. Eminent scholars in the sector and leading industrialist were invited as guest speakers for the forum to fulfill above objectives. Moreover, initiation of discussion on current states and problems of the sector and establishing collaborations among university academics, researchers and industries can also identify as secondary objectives.
