Awards and Medals

Different awarding schemes for students have been initiated for appreciation of academic performances and research findings as given below.

  • Vice Chancellor’s Award

    Vice Chancellor's awards are offered annually for the students in each degree programme for their best academic performance, at the General Convocation. Selection criteria for the awarding are based on the overall GPA value for four years. Two awards are offered to the Department as given below.

    Vice Chancellor’s award for the best performance in "Bachelor of Animal Science (BASc Hons)" degree program.

  • Asha Weerasooriya Memorial Gold Medal for Department of Animal Science

    Asha Weerasooriya Memorial Gold Medal for Department of Animal Science is presented annually at the General Convocation for the recipient with the highest GPA from the Department.

  • Mahinda Katugaha Gold Medals

    “Mahinda Katugaha Gold Medal” is presented annually at the General Convocation for the recipients with the highest GPA from the Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture

    "Mahinda Katugaha Gold Medal" is presented annually at the General Convocation for the highest achiever from the student population from the Uva Province

  • Dean’s List

    Students with high academic performance in the two academic programmes of the Department shall be included in the Dean’s List at the end of each academic semester as recognition of their achievements. The award shall be administered by the office of the Dean of the Faculty with the assistance of Examination division.

    Selection Criteria

    The selection of students in the Dean’s List shall be based on the GPA of a student during the academic semester concerned. All students fulfilling the minimum GPA of 3.70 or above during the academic semester concerned shall be included in the Dean’s List on the recommendation of the Faculty Board and the approval of the Senate.
