<p>Suitable qualified graduates are invited for a Post of Temporary Research Assistant</p>
<h4>Required Qualifications:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Candidates should possess a Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline from a recognized university. Preference will be given to candidates with First Class or Second Class Upper Division Honours.</li>
<li>Candidates should possess sound knowledge and practical skills in data management, database applications, spreadsheet analysis, and computer applications relevant to research administration. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in research management, scholarly publishing processes, journal management systems, research databases, bibliometric indicators (e.g., h-index, citation metrics, impact factors), journal indexing services (e.g., Scopus, Web of Science), and research performance evaluation.</li>

<p>The basic salary of Rs. 85,305.00 (2027 salary scale) under U-AC 2 – 2025 will be paid per month. In addition, a Cost of Living Allowance of Rs. 17,800.00, University Provident Fund (UPF) at 15% amounting to Rs. 14,129.85, Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF/EPF) at 3% amounting to Rs. 2,825.97 per month will be paid by the university.</p>

<div class="project-box"><strong>Research Project:</strong><br />
Development and 3D Printing of Biomimetic Mineral-Patterned Hydroxyapatite–Polylactic Acid–Maleic Anhydride Fiber-Reinforced Biocomposites</div>
<p>Applications are invited from suitably qualified graduates to serve as a full-time Research Assistant and concurrently pursue a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree under the above research project at the Faculty of Technological Studies, Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka.</p>
<p>This research project aims to develop novel biomimetic biocomposite materials through the integration of hydroxyapatite, biodegradable polymers, and natural fiber reinforcements using advanced additive manufacturing technologies. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in biomaterials and sustainable advanced materials while obtaining postgraduate research training leading to an M.Phil. degree.</p>
<h3>Research Areas and Responsibilities</h3>
<p><strong>The selected candidate will be involved in:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Hydroxyapatite synthesis and surface modification</li>
<li>Preparation and processing of polymer-based biocomposites</li>
<li>Development of fiber-reinforced biomimetic composite materials</li>
<li>Additive manufacturing (3D printing) of biocomposite structures</li>
<li>Materials characterization using FTIR, XRD, SEM, and thermal analysis techniques (TGA/DSC)</li>
<li>Mechanical, physical, and chemical performance evaluation of developed materials</li>
<li>Data analysis, report writing, and scientific publication preparation</li>
<li>Presentation of research findings at conferences and scientific forums</li>
</ul>
<p>The selected candidate will have the opportunity to publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present research outcomes at national and international conferences.</p>
<h3>Eligibility Requirements</h3>
<p><strong>Applicants should possess:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>A B.Sc. degree with Chemistry as a major subject or substantial Chemistry component from a recognized university.</li>
<li>Preference will be given to candidates with a First Class or Second Class Upper Division degree.</li>
<li>Knowledge and/or research experience in Biomaterials, Materials Chemistry, Polymer Science, Composite Materials, Nanomaterials, 3D Printing, or related disciplines.</li>
<li>Research publications, conference presentations, laboratory experience, or previous involvement in research projects relevant to the proposed study will be considered added qualifications.</li>
<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Selection Procedure</h3>
<p><strong>Selection will be based on:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Academic qualifications and achievements.</li>
<li>Research aptitude and previous research experience.</li>
<li>A brief research concept/proposal and work plan aligned with the project theme.</li>
<li>Performance at the interview.</li>

</ol>
<p>Original certificates must be produced at the interview and/or upon appointment.</p>
<h3>Duration of Appointment</h3>
<p>The appointment is for a period of two (02) years, subject to the regulations of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka and the conditions of the research grant.</p>
<p>The selected candidate will be required to enter into an agreement with the Principal Investigator for the duration of the project. In the event of withdrawal before completion of the agreed contract period, the candidate may be required to reimburse the stipend received in accordance with the terms and conditions of the agreement.</p>
<p>The successful candidate is expected to register for the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree within three months of appointment and maintain satisfactory academic and research progress throughout the tenure of the project.</p>
<h3>Stipend</h3>
<p>A monthly stipend of <strong>LKR 65,000 (all-inclusive)</strong> will be provided for a period of two years, subject to the payment regulations of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">INVITATION FOR APPLICATIONS</h2>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">POST OF VICE-CHANCELLOR</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Council of the Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka invites applications for the post of Vice Chancellor in terms of section 34 of the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 and subsequent amendments and as per the terms and conditions in Commission Circular No. 03/2023.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Applicants should be citizens of Sri Lanka and shall be less than sixty three (63) years of age by the closing date of the applications. The Vice-Chancellor shall, unless he/she vacates office earlier or is removed from office in terms of the Universities Act, hold office for a term of three years or until he/she completes his/her sixty fifth year, whichever occurs earlier.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Under the provision of the Universities Act, the Vice-Chancellor is a full time Officer, and shall be the Principal Executive Officer, the Principal Academic Officer, and the Accounting Officer of the University. He/She shall also be an ex-officio member and the Chairman of both the Council and the Senate. The Vice-Chancellor is responsible for directing academic affairs, introducing management policies, implementing the decisions of the Council, and the administration of the University. He/She shall uphold the principles of academic excellence, transparency, accountability, democratic management, and effective impartial leadership.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Application Procedure</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The applicant shall be requested to submit, together with his/her application</p>
<ol type="i">
<li style="text-align: justify;">a statement of Vision for the development of the University,</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">a brief account of what he/she proposes to achieve if appointed to the post of Vice Chancellor</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">a full Curriculum Vitae including date of birth of the applicant.</li>
</ol>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In addition, a soft copy of the above documents together with any other supporting documents in PDF format should be submitted to the registrar@uwu.ac.lk e-mail address.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">When the incumbent Vice-Chancellor is an applicant or had held the post of Vice-Chancellor of the University before, he/she shall give a Report highlighting accomplishment during his/her first period of the office, in addition to the documents (i), (ii) and (iii) mentioned above.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In case of an applicant serving in Public Service, Corporations, Statutory Bodies or Higher Educational Institutions other than the Uva Wellassa University, he/she should submit a letter from the employer indicating whether he/she could be released in the event of his/her appointment to the post.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Selection Procedure</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">All eligible applicants will be summoned before a Special Council meeting for a brief presentation of a minimum of ten (10) minutes duration but not exceeding fifteen (15) minutes. Chair or any member of the Council has a right to question any Applicant to elicit further information as to matters mentioned in his/her Statement of Vision, Curriculum Vitae and presentation or the ascertain his/her suitability for the post of Vice-Chancellor.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In an exceptional situation, if any applicant is not in a position to appear before the Special Council meeting in person due to an illness or for being overseas, he/she shall be allowed to appear via virtual mode, with prior notice of the Registrar.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Applicants shall be evaluated based on the following criteria as mentioned in the University Grants Commission Circular No.03/2023.</p>
