Being Entrepreneurial as well as Techno-preneurial University in Sri Lanka, UWU has generated an exemplary studious milieu for the nation inspired by unique theme, “Value addition to the national resources base” UWU continues to produce well rounded graduates capable of contributing to the national development with innovative solutions. Technological innovation contributes to higher levels of economic output and can deliver new goods and services that change human lives and capabilities.

With the prime objective of expanding knowledge horizons while paving the way towards sustainable development, UWU takes pride in opening its International Research Conference (IRCUWU 2019) under the theme of “Sustainable Business Transition through Technology and Innovations” which is scheduled to be held from February 7th to 9th 2019 at the Uva Wellassa University premises. IRCUWU2019 encourages researchers to discuss, share and disseminate research findings at this dignified forum of intellectualities actively engaged in keeping footprints in the journey of Sri Lanka’s Sustainable Development and Enhancing Technology and Innovation. This enormous event provides a prospect for the scientists, the industry personal and international delegates to unite and present their scientific innovations and global trends in different fields.

Hon. (Dr.) S.L.B.Amunugama is a member of parliament of Sri Lanka representing Kandy District, graduated from University of Ceylon. He joined the Ceylon Civil Service (CCS) in its last intake of cadets in 1962. Following the disestablishment of the CCS he was transferred to its successor the Ceylon Administrative Service which was later renamed as the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS). During his career in the SLAS he served as Government Agent of the Kandy District, Director of Information, Permanent Secretary to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and later Chairman, The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. Before entering active politics he worked as an International Civil Servant for UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

He is a Member of Parliament representing the Kandy District since 1994. Dr. Amunugama became the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management. Then he became the Minister of Finance in 2004 and followed by being the Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs in 2005. Dr. Amunugama was the Minister of Enterprise Development & Investment Promotion in 2007 and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning in 2010. In 2015 he was the Minister for Special Projects. Currently Dr. Amunugma has been appointed as the Minister of Science, Technology, Research, Skills Development and Vocational Training and Kandyan Heritage.

Prof. Dr. H.H.D.N.P. Opatha is the Senior Professor in the Department of Human Resource Management (HRM), Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ), Sri Lanka. He is a Litterarum Doctor and has held many academic positions and performed several managerial positions. He holds BSc Bus Adm (Special) (USJ), MSc Bus Adm (HRM) (USJ), MBA (Birmingham), Dip PM&IR (CTC), Dip Eng (CPM), PhD (HRM) (UUM), Doc HRM (IIU), and D.Litt (SUSL). He is the first Professor of HRM (on Merit) in Sri Lanka. He is indeed an erudite scholar, a distinguished author, and an exponent of HRM who received many recognitions and awards locally and internationally. As a matter of fact he is regarded as the Sri Lankan Guru of HRM.
