Best Annual Reports and Accounts Awards 2021

In recognition of excellent financial reporting, the Uva Wellassa University was awarded the Gold award under the university category at the “Best Annual Report & Accounts Awards – 2021″ along with the Annual Conference of APFASL organized by the Association of Public Finance Accountants of Sri Lanka (APFASL), the Public Sector Wing of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka). The awarding ceremony was held on December 29, 2021 at the BMICH. The Public Sector Best Annual Reports & Accounts Awards by APFASL plays an integral role in assisting the public sector organizations to improve the quality of annual reports and accounts which leads to enhancing the transparency, accountability and good governance practices.

The occasion was dignified by the Secretary to the Treasury S.R. Attygalle, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Services and Local Governments J.J. Rathnasiri, CA Sri Lanka President Sanjaya Bandara, APFASL President V. Kanagasabapathy and CA Sri Lanka CEO Dulani Fernando.

The Public Sector Best Annual Reports & Accounts Awards 2020

The Uva Wellassa University was awarded the Certificate of Compliance in the “Best Annual Report & Accounts Awards – 2020″ organized by the Association of Public Finance Accountants of Sri Lanka (APFASL), the Public Sector Wing of CA Sri Lanka. The awarding ceremony was held on February 22, 2021 at the BMICH. The event was graced by the Honorable State Minister of Money, Capital Markets and State Enterprise Reforms Ajith Nivard Cabraal, and Secretary to the Treasury S.R. Attygalle. The Public Sector Best Annual Reports & Accounts Awards by APFASL is an important initiative aimed to improve the quality of Annual Reports and Accounts and enhance transparency and accountability within the public sector, while promoting the underlying need of developing high-quality financial reporting

Best Presenter Awards – ICFA 2019

Ms. A.C.W.W.M.C.L.K. Coswatte and Ms. A.P. Abeygunawardana, Lecturers (Probationary) attached to the Department of Animal Science of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka won the “Best Presenter” awards at the “6th International Conference on Fisheries and Aquaculture (ICFA)-2019” organized by the International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM). Uva Wellassa University served as an academic partner of this event held in Bangkok, Thailand from 22nd to 23rd August 2019. Ms. Coswatte won the Best Presenter Award under the Technical Session “Ecology, Environmental Impacts of Aquaculture, Climate Change, Ornamental Species and Aquaculture Development” whereas Ms. Abeygunawardana received the same award under the Technical Session “Post-Harvest, Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Supply Chain”.

Uva Wellassa University awarded at NBQSA 2017

The project “Namunu Translator”, offline instant English-Sinhala word translator developed by the students from Department of Computer Science and Technology has been awarded a merit under the category of Tertiary Student Project – Technology at National Best quality ICT Awards Night, Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo on 06^th,October 2017. This event was organized by the Sri Lankan section of the BCS The Chartered Institute for IT and this has become the initial hand shaking project in Uva wellassa University with NBQSA team. There were many teams from the other universities and our team was represented by following members.

Shalitha Suranga, Imesh Umayanga, Praneeth Dhanushka, Praneeth Jayarathne, Shehan Ravindu, Chathuranga Kanchana, Deepal Samarakoon and Manula Doratiyawa.

The Best Presenter and the Overall Best Presenter Awards

Ms. Maleeka Nambapana, Lecturer attached to Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Animal Science and Export Agriculture won the Best Presenter Award in “Animal Science Session” and the Overall Best Presenter Award at the 27th Annual Congress of Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture (PGIA), University of Peradeniya held on November 19 & 20, 2015. Ms. Nambapana received these awards for presenting her research findings on “The Effect of Economase as Vitamin E Replacer on Performance, Meat Quality and Organ Weights of Broilers”. The event was held at the Plant Genetic Resources Centre (PGRC), Gannoruwa, Peradeniya. The Annual Congress is an international scientific forum organized by the PGIA every year with the aim of promoting postgraduate research in agriculture by providing a forum for presentation, discussion & debate, and disseminating research findings.
