UWU Karate team was able to win three bronze medals at the Inter University Karate Championship which came to an end at the Gymnasium of University of Jayawardhanapura on the 18th of June 2017.
Chameera Madushan (captain) in Kumite – Men 50kg category , Jaan Nimeshana in Kumite – Men 84kg category and Chathurika Wasanthi in Kumite – Women 45kg category were awarded with bronze through which they brought glory to the UWU sports.
Hardworking and determination had certainly paid off big time for them as they were able to hassle three medals being one if the newly started games in the university (since 2016).
