Uva Wellassa University, the novel but the exemplary and unique addition to the Sri Lankan higher education milieu is about to celebrate her 10th year of celebration with pride and prestige while witnessing clearly the prosperous harvest of what she sowed for 10 years.
Mother UWU opened her doors to the 1st batch of students on the 7th day of August in the year of two thousand and six with the rays of novel light to Sri Lankan Higher Education. Leading the unique theme of value addition to the local resource base UWU has now gifted thousands of well-rounded leaders to the nation through eleven demand driven degree programs. Moreover, her unique graduates who are well fitted for world of work are not only employees of private and public sectors but also job creators and entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka. Having well shaped by essential skills and broad general studies while enlightened by the wisdom of core subjects these students directly contribute the well growth of the economy in the county appreciated often for their discipline, attitudes and undefeatable skills.
Accordingly, to crown mother UWU with the garlands of respect, love and thanks for the never-ending and outstanding service that she has rendered during a decade for thousands of Sri Lankan sons and daughters, the whole UWU family is now ready with an array of activities with the heartfelt gratitude to shine her name amongst the wise, bright skies of education.
