We endeavor to produce well-rounded leaders capable of using scientific and technological approaches to develop aquatic resources in Sri Lanka, to expose them to the latest and advanced global technologies and cater to the global and regional demands in the sector through production of novel value added products.


Course of Study: Aquatic Resources and Technology
Degree: B.Sc. in Aquatic Resources and Technology
Focus: The students who enroll for this degree will gain knowledge on both living (fish, crustaceans, plants, sea weeds etc) and non living (oil, sea sand, minerals etc) aquatic resources of Sri Lanka, their importance, production technology, sustainable utilization management, and advanced technologies used in increasing demand for such resources in the global market by value addition.
Entry Requirement: GCE (A/L) in Biology or Agriculture with Chemistry as a subsidiary subject.

Develop Essential Skills (Language skills, IT skills, Communication skills, Quantitative reasoning skills etc.) (15 Credits)

Introduction to Aquatic Resources in Sri Lanka

Broad General Education (15 Credits)

Introduction to Aquatic Resources in Sri Lanka.(2 Credits)

Second Year Provide a thorough background knowledge on inland aquatic resources, their diversity and management; Production technology used in enhancing aquatic resources (i.e. Aquaculture); Living and nonliving ocean resources, utilization and management.(30 credits)

Essential Skills (2 Credits)

Third Year Application of novel technologies of value addition to improve quality and of to various aquatic resources; Introduction to incubation projects related to aquatic resources.
